I was honored to partner with We Step Into The Light and International Justice Mission to create art honoring survivors of human trafficking. This was done for a 16 year old girl in the Philippines.
This piece was created with great respect and admiration for a courageous young woman. After a skype call and a few letters back and forth, I created this painting. I wanted to capture her passion for family, her patience with herself and others, her ability to dream God-sized dreams. In the face of real hardship, she has held onto a lightness of spirit and her sense of humor. She dreams, she plans, she forgives, she perseveres, and speaking for myself, she inspires. Getting to know her changed me. Jeremiah 29:11 was my inspiration.
